Bill Pullman Joins Torchwood

Calling all Torchwood fans, they brought in a big name to help with the U.S. reboot of Torchwood. Bill Pullman will join the cast and will play Oswald Jones. According to BSCReview.com, the character is described as “a dangerously clever convicted murderer” who becomes a media sensation when a technicality allows him to avoid spending the rest of his life in prison. Jones is actually sorry about the crimes he’s committed but he still feels the rage and lust that makes him a danger to society. He soon learns there are things that are far more dangerous than him when he gets wrapped up in a horrifying crisis that could affect the whole world.

though his role has not been disclosed. His credits include (among many others) Independence Day and While You Were Sleeping.

"Fringe" recap: Peter screws up

This past weeks episode of Fringe was probably the best episode since season 1. Olivia is back, and Peter has to fill her in on what's really been going on. Olivia eventually realized that Alt-Livia has invaded every facet of her life and intimate details. Then Peter breaks the news that he and Alt-Livia had become an item. But Olivia cannot understand how Peter didn't see through Alt-Livia from the start, how he could be intimate with her and not know who she was. At the end of the episode she tells him she doesn't want to be with him. This episode is the mid-season finale. It is likely this will cause considerable problems within the team. The lesson here is to never sleep with someone you work with.

Eve Myles: From Torchwood to Hollywood

Truly one of my favorite people on television. I never miss a Torchwood rerun on BBCAmerica, and next year a new U.S. based Torchwood series will be out.

Fox Moves 'Fringe' To Fridays At Mid-Season

In late January 2011, Fringe will move to Friday nights. Friday nights is where a show is moved just before being canceled. I say let the SyFy Channel have it, or the USA Network. It would get more air time with repeated showings throughout the week.

Patrick Duffy, Larry Hagman in Talks to Join 'Dallas' Sequel

This could be one of the better things to come out of television in recent history. That is, if they don't screw it up.

Sequels are a funny animal to conquer. Some have gone terribly wrong like Knight Rider and The Bionic Woman. The olden says of making a sequel with the popularity of Star Trek: The next Generation are hard to come by. But a few sneak in like the new Hawaii Five-O. Redone in the true spirit of it's ancestor, not akin the twisted up reboot of the a fore mentioned failures.

If they stay true to the Dallas story, and leave out the complicated twists of a world 25+ years in the future, it definitely has a chance. They have to make sure that casual viewers can tune in and follow the story with having to know 40 years of Ewing family history. Keep the story lines simplified and out of the 10PM time slot. Keep it clean enough for the teenagers to watch since the show is about the next generation, and will undoubtedly have characters in that age range.

Let's keep our fingers crossed. Read full article at Patrick Duffy, Larry Hagman in Talks to Join 'Dallas' Sequel

'NCIS': Robert Wagner and Michael Weatherly reunite - From Inside the Box - Zap2it

Contrary to what my wife thinks, NCIS is probably the best show on television. It's rivaled only by the likes of Hawaii Five-O. OK, so it's not science fiction, but it could be. I'm convinced that Gibbs is psychic, he has more than a sixth sense about solving crimes. He knows what's being discussed when he walks in a room of people. And while he does have episodes of Post Traumatic Stress, not only from the first Gulf War but from the death of his wife and children, it serves to strengthen him. Some of stuff they do in the lab, and the techno-babble that Abby and McGee spew is much closer to science fiction than fiction. Being a techie myself, I occasionally catch them spewing terms and phrases that make complete non-sense, but go right over the heads of the average lay-person. Still great, smart stories all in all.

Davies Chats Torchwood: The New World

Finally some GOOD news about science fiction television. I love Torchwood. Well, not the gay guy stuff, but it's a great show no matter. And they're bring back Gwen (Eve Myles), that's plenty of reason for us red-blooded, STRAIGHT men to stand-up and cheer. The bad part is that I do not subscribe to Starz so I don't know how that's gonna work out.

If you've never watched Torchwood, you have missed out on a great story. Originally set in Cardiff, Wales, an team of five "agents" from an autonomous arm of the government exists to protect the world from extra-terrestrials and paranormal phenomenon. Most every episode treated it's viewers to footage of the beautiful city of Cardiff, and it's unique culture. It's amazing what a former bobby-cop can do with guts and allot of help from weapons and technology from the future and aliens.
